Rhetorical Analysis Essay
The first copy of my rhetorical analysis essay struggled in a few areas. Although the analysis itself was quite strong, the word choice and clarity issues somehow lost the emphasis. My work struggled in small grammatical errors such as consistent tense difficulties. In the revised version below, I touched up the errors. In my LA101h class, I learned the importance of words, and how the wrong word choice can affect the work. By reading carefully through my essay, I was able to replace poor word choices with other words that conveyed the point I was trying to make stronger. I learned that the simple technique of reading your work aloud can help alleviate the simple mistakes often overlooked when briefly proofread. Overall, I think this work portrays a clear sense of my writing mechanics as well as my analysis skills. It also brings to the light, the idea that rhetoric is not only found in what is spoken but what is painted as well.
This I Believe Speech
I chose to include this speech for an audio element. Throughout the year, I learned a lot about inflections and pitches of the voice and how to use them to convey your message clearer. I hope this features not only the knowledge I learned about speaking but again, a little more information about who I am as a person.
Motivational Speech
As you read the outline of my speech, I would like for you to follow along with the power point I provided. As labeled in the outline, I chose to follow Monroe's Motivational steps in order to increase the effectiveness of my speech. Throughout the steps I continued to add a balance of logos (statistics), pathos (Rick Bailey story), and ethos (the need) to help ensure that my audience is moved emotionally and logically towards the action I was presenting. I chose to feature this speech because it embodies majority of the elements of speech work I learned in my LA101h class. I hope you take the time to thoroughly absorb not only the knowledge but the message I was portraying as well.
