Blogs

Throughout the year I’ve been blogging weekly on various topics that pertain to rhetoric and civic life as well as neuroscience. As an assignment, I was given the opportunity to set up various blogs. At first, I was a little skeptical to how these “blogs” would turn out. Being new to the blog world, I was excited yet hesitate to dive right in. But regardless, I took on the assignment as a challenge and my love for blogs began to grow. I really enjoyed the conversational style of the blog and felt like I can voice my opinion on certain matters in an informal way. It gave me the ability to understand my peers on a different level by engaging in discourse through our comments. I chose to feature 3 individual blogs that I felt were my strongest and most interesting. The first one is from my neuroscience blog and  next two are from my rhetorical and passion blog, respectively. (My passion blog features my collection of mugs, and how each individual mug has it’s own personal story and motto behind it.)

"The Black Plague"
At the beginning of my various psychology classes, we started off the year learning about the history of health and psychology. We read about the ancient philosophers and about how they made break through discoveries in a time where their availability of technology was significantly less than it is today. It was amazing what these great minds came up with. However, there were some set backs as well. Here you can read my views on where I believe we would be today, if we didn't contract the Black Plague.

This next blog is one of the many blogs that were inspired by my Psych 221 class (Social Psychology). As the psych nerd that I am, I've become extremely intrigued with anything remotely interesting that pertains to psychology, couple that with my love of the circus and you have my interest in the Barnum Effect (“we’ve got something for everyone”). I also thought it was important to feature this blog because it provides readers with the knowledge of the sometimes deceiving nature of advertisements.

Lastly, I wanted to feature a blog that let you understand a little bit more about myself. This passion blog highlights one of the many museums that I love to visit. The BODIES exhibit. With my interest in the human body and health, the museum is very stimulating and I suggest anyone who owns a body to go out and see it.

If your interested in the other blogs I did throughout the year, I provided a link out the individual link site:
